St. James Sag Church & Cemetery
As legend has is, St. James Sag Church was founded by Irish immigrants working on the Illinois and Michigan Canal in the 1830s. The Irish immigrants were mostly Roman Catholic and burried their dead in this hallowed ground.
It was once said, that St. James had cursed the area for poor attendance in the past...
Over the years, ghost sightings have plagued this area. Believe it or not, many reports claim sighting ghost Monks wandering the grounds, chanting in Latin. In the 1970s, a police officer spotted eight of these strange phenomenas, hooded, arising from the neighboring woods and chased them, although resulting in no luck.
St. James Sag Church & Cemeter is along Archer's Ave., known for it haunted accessories. Some could say that the Devil himself had a visit here. Some people heard a horrible scream along this haunted trail. When they had looked for what had happened, they found a hoofprint where the scream was heard! There have also been reports of a phantom black stallion roving the grounds.
